Imagine this...

Classic books are actually portals to alternate universes. Almost everything that happens in a classic is true, just not in our world, in theirs.

Now imagine that we have found a way to go between these worlds.

Due to a mistake, Proffessor Moriarty (from the Sherlock Holmes stories) escapes into our world and begins to wreak havok.

It is up to you to stop him, and you don't want to let too many people know... so, no police help.

Sherlock Holmes himself is already helping you... what other classic book characters would you want to come along? You can pick a few people for their skills, but also, the machine that lets you go between worlds is malfunctioning and a few random characters are going to come out.

So who would your team be? What skillful characters would you try to get and why? What silly characters do you think should be there? Let me know in the comments!

~Jane~

P.S. This is my plot for Nanowrimo! I'm so excited.

I don't know anything about Sherlock Holmes, but your story sounds absolutely amazing!

Here is my NaNo profile if you would like to "friend" me. :-)

I would pick Sherlock and his brother (I can't remember his name right now, something with a "M" I think). Anyway I would have them and Dc. Watson.

Have a blessed day

Sounds like a cool story! I don't know if you've read The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells, but I think he would be an interesting character to include.

Oh, I love you idea! How intriguing!
Have you ever read 'The Magician's Nephew' by C.S.Lewis. It hint's at the same lines of your idea.

I'll think about this more and see what I can come up with. My sister read all of the Sherlock Holmes books. Then I think she reread them. :) I'll see what she thinks.

I'm also working on my Nano project. I can't beleive it is this close!

P.S. I found your blog through Gail Carson Levine. I found your Elven Princess blog recently as well. However I can't seem to remember how.

Can you just imagine if Anne (of Green Gables) randomly appeared with Sherlock? With her wild imagination, and his decisive reasoning, hmmm... it just might work.
If I could choose any one other person, it would be Jean Valjean (Les Miserables). He's good at going undercover for long periods of time, inventing himself as a new person, and much more. Yes, he would make a good comrade for Sherlock Holmes. With this team, I do believe they could beat Professor Moriarty!!

If this is your plot for Nanowrimo, then your novel is going to be AWESOME. Can't wait to hear more about it.

Marian, the invisible man is such a great idea!

Tarissa, I have never read Les Miserables but he sounds like a pretty awesome character. Anne Shirley would be hilarious with Sherlock!

Thanks everyone who said they liked the idea! I'm pretty excited to write it.

Hello! Your blog is adorable!

I'm always thrilled when I find another person who does NaNo! Your plot sounds amazing!

Have you ever read The Scarlet Pimpernel? I think a character from that would make things pretty interesting.
